Course Outline
Description

This course helps pharmacists develop the knowledge and skills required to administer and manage intravenous therapy. It covers differences between administration routes, common venous access types, IV setup components, and potential complications. Learners will also explore IV maintenance and venous access care, including step-by-step flushing and locking techniques to maintain patency, IV calculations, and the administration of IV medications and total parenteral nutrition.

The curriculum features interactive and animated online modules focusing on both peripheral and central venous access. This self-paced training includes case-based questions throughout the material to reinforce your learning.

Assessment
  • Students must complete an online theoretical knowledge and skills assessment
  • The assessment consists of multiple-choice and short answer tests featuring case studies and IV calculations
  • A minimum grade of 70% is required to pass. Up to four attempts are provided to achieve a passing grade
